Full to Bursting

I recently finished writing a humor novel geared to middle school and junior high readers. Full to Bursting is currently out in search of a publisher and I hope to have more details about publication soon. No, there are no dragons or magic in this one - which is unusual for me - but I really love it because it's full of fun characters and bizarre situations that anyone who's ever been in school can identify with.

Full to Bursting

Thirteen-year-old John Regan has just learned he and his family will be moving from Philadelphia to what he calls "the evil city of Chicago."  And that's only the beginning of John's troubles.  He's afraid of transforming into an earthworm, a creepy kid is stalking his house, his new Language Arts teacher may be a vampire, and his grandmother likes to talk about the time she spent in prison.  To make matters worse, John knows that as an eighth grader entering a new school in the middle of the year, he is probably doomed to a miserable, friendless existence.

Follow the hilarious trials of John Regan as he tries to make his new school a better place for himself and other students.  It's quirky characters, snappy dialogue, and uplifting message are sure to leave smiles on readers' faces.

And now for something completely different:

Qaddafi's Libya

My degree in political science paid off when Lerner Publishing asked me to write a nonfiction book about life in Libya under the country's eccentric leader, Muammar Qaddafi. This book is geared to high school readers and is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2008. It was fascinating to research Qaddafi's life and rule. I learned a lot. For example, did you know that his personal bodyguard is a group of martial arts-trained women called the Amazonian Guard? Who would have guessed?

Slobodan Milosevic's Yugoslavia

I've just started writing this one. It's supposed to be released in Spring of 2009. I'm really enjoying writing these books about the world's dictators. There's so much to learn about the world, and I'm getting paid to learn it! It's a pretty good deal.
